Planning the Front End Swap

There’s always been this idea floating around in my head—adding a proper set of USD forks to the NX650. It’s one of those mods that just makes sense for where I want to take the bike. This build felt like the right time to test that idea and create a setup that could eventually work on the Rally bike as well.

Used motocross parts aren’t exactly growing on trees around here, so I reached out to some folks abroad. Through a contact in the Netherlands, I managed to source a complete front end in great shape. It came with forks, triple clamps, axle and brake setup—all from the same donor bike, which is a huge win when you want things to match up properly down the line.

To make it all work with the NX frame, I had a custom steering stem made. It’s been machined to fit the NX650 perfectly—matching bearing sizes and overall geometry. Everything’s still off the bike for now, but just seeing the parts come together like this feels like a big step forward.

It’s one of those stages in a build where things don’t look like much yet, but the groundwork is being laid for something solid. Can’t wait to get everything test-fitted and start dialing in the details. For now, I’m just stoked to finally have these parts in hand.

More soon.
